Williamson might be an ideal choice for GT to bat at the number three position. Under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, the debutants managed to script history after winning the title in the first go. However, they had their own set of problems, particularly the batting department. The Titans had tried a number of batters for their number three position, but none of them managed to play upto the team’s expectations.
Williamson was not in his best form in the last season
Kane Williamson’s form has taken a dip following the elbow injury. Last season he could only score 216 runs from 13 matches. Under his leadership, SRH finished 8th this season and couldn’t go past the group stage. However, Williamson has been in good form with the bat this year in T20 cricket with his past scores being 40, 61, 46 and 61 in the last four innings.
Gujarat Titans, who won the IPL in their debut season this year under captain Hardik Pandya, have actually managed to bag a player of Williamson’s stature at a bargain price. Williamson is an IPL legend with 2101 runs from 76 matches at 36.22 with 18 half-centuries. The senior batter will look to give his best for the Titans franchise and help the defending champions to retain the prestigious IPL title.
