Williamson is nursing an elbow injury that has kept him out of action for three months. It was previously expected that the Kiwi batter will make a comeback in the ongoing series against South Africa, but that was not to be as he failed to make a full recovery before the series.

However, Sunrisers fans can now heave a sigh of relief as their leader is making a smooth recovery. “It’s improving, it’s been a bit of a long slog. Hopefully, this time gives it gets what it needs, it will be nice to put it behind me. It does seem to be progressing quite well – in last small period my batting load has started to increase quite a bit more, it’s looking positive,” the Tauranga-born cricketer told Gold AM’s Country Sport Breakfast.

New Zealand’s upcoming series against Netherlands
Following the two-match Test series against South Africa, New Zealand will take on Netherlands for a one-off T20I and three ODI matches. The series will run from 25th March to 4th April. Interestingly, the dates of this series will clash with IPL 2022, and it remains to be seen where Williamson will be involved.
