The former India opener felt Dube was continuously bowling length balls which allowed LSG batters Evin Lewis and Ayush Badoni to ply their shots and eventfully win the game.
“He has played a fair bit of limited-overs cricket and he is still bowling those length balls. He is going to get punished. Of course, it’s not fair that somebody who has not bowled so far is given the 19th over when the batsmen are looking to play the shots. But look at it… it’s a length ball. He is bowling the slower delivery but a slower delivery is very useful on a turning, dry pitch. Not on a pitch where the ball is coming off the bat quite nicely,” Gavaskar said on air.

IPL 2022: Shivam Dube’s costly over ruins his good day with the bat
Dube’s mammoth 25 runs over ruined his earlier good efforts with the bat in hand. The southpaw scored a vital 49 runs while batting, which allowed CSK to post a huge total.
Dube though did not replicate his heroics with the ball in hand. All his hard work was undone in just six balls.
Gavaskar felt CSK got bowling calculation wrong and giving Dube the over was a blunder.
