The team uploaded the video of the celebration on its social media handles with the caption, “In 3 calls for celebration. Our Titans registering a lot of firsts post that epic match!”
Needing 12 runs in the last two balls, Tewatia hit two sixes off Odean Smith to help Gujarat Titans keep their unbeaten record intact. By hitting those two maximums, he became only the second player after MS Dhoni to helpe his team win the game with two sixes off the last two deliveries. In the video, he was seen receiving a hero’s welcome with other players of the squad congratulating him.
Apart from Tewatia, Shubman Gill too smashed his highest T20 score with a brilliant 96. He was adjudged the man of the match. While debutants Darshan Nalkande and Sai Sudharsan too put in notable contributions to the team. While Nalkande picked two wickets off two balls in the match, 20-year old Sai Sudharsan chipped in with a valuable 35 runs off 30 balls, sharing 101-run second wicket partnership with Shubman Gill.
All the four players were at the forefront of the celebration as they were seen cutting the cake. Tewatia and Gill also opened bottles of champagne.
Gujarat Titans’ upcoming contest is against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday, 11th April at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.
