Speaking at the cabinet meeting, the CM expressed her happiness at the victory and wished everyone on the team a prosperous future. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah announced a whopping cash reward of Rs 5 crore for the entire India squad following its title-winning performance at the inaugural Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup.

Wickets continued to tumble, with England not able to see out their full allocation of overs despite resistance from Ryana MacDonald-Gay (19). Chasing a small total of 68, India lost a few wickets but they overhauled England’s score to be crowned as champions. Soumya Tiwari, Shafali Verma and Gongadi Trisha played some crucial roles for the victory.

To note, India were also the first T20 champions when they lifted the trophy under the leadership of MS Dhoni back in 2007. Young Shafali has now registered her name alongside Indian veteran and can be looked as a future prospect to lead the Women in Blue.
