Ishant Sharma, who has played 105 Test matches for India, last featured in whites back in 2021 when the men in blue took on New Zealand. In that particular game, he bowled 22 overs across two innings but failed to pick up wickets.

Notably, Sharma has been one of India’s most potent threats in Test cricket for a long time, but his recent form is not convincing at all. He has not picked up wickets in any of his last two matches for India, and in his last 11 spells, he has picked up only 11 wickets.
Meanwhile, the national selectors and the Indian head coach Rahul Dravid is more interested in building a team for the future, and accordingly, they have earned Prasidh Krishna as Ishant Sharma’s perfect replacement.

The 26-year-old bowler from Karnakata is yet to make his Test debut, but he has done a brilliant job in his short ODI career for India so far. In 7 ODI games, Krishna has picked up 18 wickets for the boys in blue, which includes two four-wicket hauls – one in his debut game against England and the other against West Indies.
Barring only one match, Krishna has picked up a minimum of 2 wickets in every single ODI game for India, and hence, it will be fair to say that Dravid and his managerial team will have a lot of expectations from him.
