Indian middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer will have to fight off some competition to make it to the Indian lineup for the IND vs ENG 1st ODI. Should the Mumbaikar feature, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has the chance to make it an occasion to remember. The 27-year-old aggregates 947 runs in 26 ODIs and needs just 53 more to reach the milestone of 1000 runs for India. Should he do so, he will become the 40th Indian batsman to achieve the mark.
Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan will be featuring in his 150th ODI for India having made his debut more than a decade earlier for the Men in Blue. The veteran will become the third left-hander to achieve the milestone for India following Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh. The Delhi Capitals star has 6284 runs to his name, scoring 35 fifties and 17 hundreds.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is one of the finest to have played the game and the left-hander needs just 59 more runs to complete 2500 runs in the format. He is just 36 shy of Vinod Kambli’s run tally. Furthermore, the 33-year-old could achieve the rare double of 2500 runs and 200 wickets in the format, should he pick up 12 wickets in the series. Jadeja has 188 wickets to his name, the most by a left-arm spinner for India.
Fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been greatly consistent for India in ODIs and the 31-year-old needs just two more wickets to breach the 150-wicket mark. Shami has 148 wickets in just 79 ODIs and could become just the 9th Indian pacer to the milestone and the fastest one to the same.
