The camaraderie Kohli and Rohit displayed on the field over the past few years suggest that they are on friendly terms. But not the same could be said about their fans who often engage in heated battles on social media platforms.
“To hell with them. All of this is merely time pass for you guys. I don’t have the time for this. Everything is fine. There is good tuning between them. Everything is first-class. There was a 100-run partnership in between but you guys are stretching it. Keep on doing it. All of this is a very trivial matter,” Shastri told veteran journalist Vimal Kumar in an interview on his YouTube channel.
The two biggest stars in Indian cricket, Rohit and Kohli, look at their last opportunity to win the World Cup at home in 2023 after they are likely done playing T20 Internationals.
However, both of their bats must produce runs for it to happen. By amassing lots of runs in both the Asia Cup and the World Cup, Kohli has been able to vanquish the bad form that plagued him.
Fans are though worried about Rohit’s form. The skipper of India has been having trouble lately; his last fifty came in June in a match against England. The ODI format is statistically Rohit and Kohli’s favourite. And the duo may be confident in their ability to play themselves in and score significant runs.
