IND vs NZ 1st Test: Great gesture by Rahul Dravid, donates Green Park’s ground staff Rs 35,000 for preparing sporting pitch

Dravid was excited to guide India to their first Test victory under his regime by missing by the narrowest of margins in Kanpur. He was impressed with the way the youngsters took the opportunities and stepped up to their roles.

“I think it was good to finish the series as winners, came close in Kanpur, not able to get that last wicket, had to work hard here. This result seems one-sided, but right through the series, we were made to work hard. There have been phases where we were behind and had to fight back, credit to the team. Great to see the boys stepping up and taking their opportunities,” Dravid told host broadcaster Star Sports after the game ended.

The test match was dominated entirely by spinners as 33 out of 37 wickets that fell went to the spinners.

The caravan now moves to India Tour of South Africa. The selection committee will name a 20-member side with extra net bowlers for Test and ODI series. The series is slated to take place from December 26 despite Omicron threat.
