Formula 1 has really gained popularity in the USA in the last few years. A lot of that popularity is thanks to the success of the Netflix Documentary ‘Drive to Survive’. Golf took a similar route with Netflix. They allowed them access, and in return, Netflix made a documentary series on them called ‘Full Swing’. Now, in a novel move, Netflix will bring both of these together in something called the Netflix Cup. This will be a Formula 1 x Golf Promotional Event before the Las Vegas GP. Here’s everything you need to know.
Who will be Participating?
A total of 8 sporting superstars will be participating in the Formula 1 x Golf event.
The four Formula 1 drivers are:
- Carlos Sainz
- Lando Norris
- Alex Albon
- Pierre Gasly
The four PGA Tour Golfers are:
- Justin Thomas
- Max Homa
- Rickie Fowler
- Collin Morikawa

When and Where will this event take place?
Netflix has planned this unique Formula 1 x Golf event as a promotion for the Las Vegas GP. Therefore, it will be held a few days before the Las Vegas GP itself.
The Netflix Cup will be held at the Wynn Golf Club at Wynn Las Vegas. It will be streamed live on the 14th of November, 2023. The event will start at 6 pm ET.
What’s the Format?
As said earlier, the Netflix Cup will have four golfers and Formula 1 drivers each. Each golfer will be paired with a driver. We will get 4 pairs, each having one golfer and one driver.
These 4 teams will then play an 8-hole match. The two top teams will qualify for the final hole. They will then battle it out for the first-ever Netflix Cup.

Drive to Survive and Full Swing have been immensely successful for Formula 1 and Golf respectively. Gabe Spitzer is the vice president of Non-fiction sports at Netflix.
