In his absence, Delhi have tried a variety of options, with Mandeep Singh, Rovman Powell and captain Rishabh Pant himself batting at No.3. Mandeep Singh failed to make a mark scoring a duck and an 18 in his two innings. Powell scored a 10-ball 3 in his only outing, while Pant scored an enterprising 27 in the game against KKR. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer has gone on from strength to strength, with KKR amongst the top 4 with the ex-Delhi captain scoring two half-centuries in IPL 2022.

With Mitchell Marsh out with COVID-19 and Tim Seifert also now testing positive, Delhi Capitals are scrambling for options as they attempt to shore their middle order. Mandeep Singh and Rovman Powell could very well earn an opportunity once again. Pant is unlikely to promote himself unless the situation demands so, while youngster Yash Dhull could be fast-tracked in a time of crisis. Sarfaraz Khan is also another option, but DC have preferred him to bat in the middle order than up the order.
