India began their Commonwealth Games 2022 campaign with a loss at the hands of Australia. The Indian contingent then recovered and came back strongly against Pakistan and Barbados.
India went on to oust hosts England from the semi-finals but then faltered yet against the mighty Australians. Set to chase 162 for the Gold medal, the Indian team ended their innings all out on 152. India was in a position to win the game but squandered away a wonderful opportunity. Toward the end of the run chase, India needed to score just 13 runs from 10 deliveries.
Failing to keep composure, the lower batting order of the Indian eves gave away back-to-back wickets as Australia took away the gold.
