- Virat Kohli: Having already retired from T20Is following the World Cup win in 2024, the ex-India captain took the world by surprise with his abrupt decision to retire from Tests just before the IND vs ENG series in June.
- Rohit Sharma: Like Kohli, the Hitman too shocked the world by retiring from Tests, especially after he had indicated the possibility of prolonging his Test career by taking part in a Ranji Trophy game earlier this year.
- Cheteshwar Pujara: Arguably one of India’s best top-order batters in Tests, the veteran announced his decision to retire from all formats of the game in August, having been sidelined from the Indian team for years.
