Why IPL 2024 could be a dream season for Virat Kohli and RCB
Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bangalore will be desperate to end their title drought once in the 2024 Indian Premier League.

Virat Kohli is the leading run-scorer in the Indian Premier League. He is also the top run-scorer in T20 Internationals. Back in 2016, Kohli had scored nearly 1000 runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore – a season record which still stands.

However, despite Virat Kohli’s sensational run with the bat in the IPL for years, Royal Challengers Bangalore have never won the title in 16 editions of the tournament.

IPL 2024 could end the drought for RCB. Why? Because Virat Kohli had rediscovered his form. He smashed the all-time record for most runs in a single edition of the ODI World Cup recently. Besides, Kohli showed great intent as he returned to India’s T20I side and scored a rapid 29 against Afghanistan on Sunday.

IPL 2024 is also the best chance for RCB as they have match-winning players on their side with the best of their forms.

A Balanced Squad

The player acquisitions in the IPL 2024 auction could also play a crucial role in bolstering RCB’s chances. A well-rounded squad with a mix of seasoned campaigners and emerging talents could give Kohli the right balance to mount a serious title challenge.

The bowling line-up has always been a weak link for RCB. In the IPL 2024 Auction, RCB invested their money on quality bowlers and signed up West Indies’ Alzarri Joseph, New Zealand’s Lockie Ferguson and India’s Yash Dayal.

Virat Kohli is obviously in stunning form and RCB will also take heart from Glenn Maxwell’s recent exploits in the ODI World Cup including a barnstorming double hundred against Afghanistan.

Best chance for RCB to win the title

Considering the passionate fanbase and the perennial quest for an IPL title, the 2024 season might just be the perfect opportunity for Virat Kohli and RCB to turn their dreams into reality. Faf du Plessis is likely to lead the team last time in the tournament and he would like to end his cricketing career with an IPL trophy by his side. Kohli will want to show the world that he has the skills to guide a team to win a tournament.
