A day before the IND vs AUS 3rd Test Shubman Gill went on to reveal that it is very nostalgic returning to Gabba. This is the first time that the India Cricket Team will return to Brisbane since breaching the fortress back in 2021. Gill is still unsurely how the wicket will initially behave and claims it apparently looks like a good wicket.
Back in 2021, India went on to beat Australia at Gabba to secure a historic series win in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. While Rishabh Pant hogged the limelight with his brilliant knock, Shubman Gill was also great. He played a crucial knock of 92 runs in the second innings which paved the way for India’s win.
Shubman Gill points to Mental Fitness
“Very nostalgic when we came here again after 2021. Wicket we’ll get to know once we play. Looks like a good wicket,” he says on the historic win during the 2020-21 series,” Shubman Gill told in the Pre Match press conference.
While currently, the series stands tied 1-1, India will be keen to replicate another win in Gabba to take a lead in the series again. He went on to reveal that the conditions in Brisbane will be challenging.

Gill further pointed out that teams need high mental intensity and fitness to play games at this iconic venue. He explained that the intensity of games played here is very high and thus mental fitness is required at the top level to extract a win.
“I think the intensity with which games are played here is what makes it challenging. The mental intensity and fitness that’s required here. Conditions are challenging but I think 35 overs till second new ball it gets easier to bat. It’s about mental fitness,” Gill concluded.
