India postpone practice session, ‘avoid doing anything good’ during lunar eclipse before T20 WC semis

Owing to the eclipse which is supposed to take place between 3.20 PM to 6.40 PM, India have decided to postpone its practice session

India cricket team have decided to postpone their practice session at the Wankhede Stadium due to the lunar eclipse on Tuesday. Suryakumar Yadav and co. were were scheduled to train between 6 PM to 9 PM ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final clash against England. However, owing to the eclipse which is supposed to take place between 3.20 PM to 6.40 PM, the team has decided to postpone its practice session.

According to The Indian Express, a source claimed that the team decided against doing anything good during the ‘chandra grahan’ and that hence had decided to defer the practice before the T20 WC semis against England. The source said that he team wanted to start on a positive note as they were scheduled to lock horns with England in the semi-final and that hence the management had agreed to postpone the session by one hour.

The team found out that since it is chandra grahan ‘lunar eclipse’ one should avoid doing anything good. As India is playing semi-finals against England the team wanted to start on a positive note. Many felt that we can push the practice time until 6:40 PM one should avoid doing any activity. The team management agreed to it and practice was postponed by an hour,” a source said.

India beat West Indies in what was a must-win encounter in their final Super 8 fixture by 5 wickets to make it to the semis. Before that, they lost to South Africa by 76 runs after which they bounced back with an emphatic win against Zimbabwe. The co-hosts of the T20 World Cup 2026 will next take on England on Thursday in Mumbai. as they aim to go one step closer to their second consecutive title
