IPL 2026: Rohit Sharma was not available for most part of the chase, and had to leave the field despite receiving treatment from the physio.

After a string of losses, more bad news has come MI’s way. Ex-skipper and opener Rohit Sharma faced a hamstring injury during the RCB match. Now his participation in the next match will be dependent on the scans, as per a report in Cricbuzz. MI play PBKS on April 16 in their next encounter.

Rohit Sharma suffers injury?

As it is, the team is suffering on account of poor performance, and are on 8th spot in the IPL 2026 points table after three successive losses, and if Rohit is declared unfit, it will only mount their woes. The 38-year-old had left the field in the sixth over, after having scored 19 from 13.

Meanwhile, there is no communication from the franchise, over the status of his injury. “I’m not entirely sure yet – perhaps it’s a bit of a hamstring issue – but I can’t say for certain. I was in the dugout, so I don’t have much information on it,” Sherfane Rutherford said in the post-match conference. As far as the tournament is concerned, Rohit Sharma has 137 runs to his names.

Fate depends on scans

On the other hand, RCB’s Virat Kohli to did not take the field after scoring 50, during MI’s chase, on account of an ankle injury. But then teammate Krunal Pandya clarified, it wasn’t too serious. “I mean, I have not spoken to the physio yet, but I think he’ll be fine,” Pandya said.

RCB are well-placed in the points table, are at 3rd position for now, having won three out of four matches played. On Sunday, they managed to win the match by 18 runs, after having scored a massive 240 in their 20 overs.
