Rishabh Pant walked out to bat once again despite having a fractured toe on Day 2 of IND vs ENG 4th Test in Manchester

Rishabh Pant put team over pain to come out and bat on Day 2 of IND vs ENG 4th Test despite having a fractured toe. The BCCI had earlier confirmed that the southpaw would be available to bat as per the team’s requirements while wicketkeeping duties would be taken over by Dhruv Jurel. Pant was carried off the field on Day 1 after he attempted a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes and was struck on his foot.

Injured Pant returns to bat on Day 2

Following Shardul Thakur’s departure in the 1st session on Day 2, Pant came out to the middle. He was greeted by a standing ovation from fans at the Old Trafford for his effort to bat while having a fractured toe. Earlier in the day, the Indian vice-captain had re-joined the Indian dressing room after reports claimed that he would be out of action for six weeks due to a fractured toe.

The southpaw was hit on his leg off a delivery from Chris Woakes which forced him to be carried off the field on Day 1 of IND vs ENG 4th Test. Pant was seen hobbling and writhing in pain and was struggling to put pressure on his injured leg as he was helped off the field. Rishabh managed to score 37 runs from 48 deliveries before he was forced to retire injured.
