Former Indian and Royal Challengers Bengaluru cricketer Dinesh Karthik has been announced as Team India’s captain for the Hong Kong Sixes tournament. The ex-Tamil Nadu batter retired from the cash-rich T20 league following the IPL 2024 season. Karthik was last associated with RCB in IPL 2025 as assistant coach and mentor where the team lifted ended a 17-year-wait to lift their maiden trophy.
Karthik to lead Ashwin and co. in Hong Kong Sixes
Taking to social media platforms, Hong Kong, China Cricket confirmed that Karthik will lead Team India in the tournament. The Hong Kong Sixes 2025 will take place between November 7-9.
“With his vast international experience, sharp leadership skills, and explosive batting, Dinesh will bring both inspiration and intensity to the tournament. His appointment reflects the spirit of the Sixes — fearless, entertaining, and world-class,” Cricket Hong Kong,” China wrote.
In 2024/25, Robin Uthappa led Team India with Manoj Tiwary, Kedar Jadhav and Shreevats Goswami in the squad. Each team plays an innings of 5 overs each.
Last week, Ashwin was confirmed as one of Team India’s member for the tournament. The rest of the team for India is yet to be announced. In the last edition of the Hong Kong Sixes, Sri Lanka were crowned champions after they defeated Pakistan by 3 wickets.
