Over the years, there has been a trend of players withdrawing from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to take part in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This has to mostly do with getting higher salaries apart from the fact that the stars are likely to get contracts in other T20 leagues such as the SA20, MLC, ILT20 among others where IPL-linked franchises are involved. From Corbin Bosch to Dasun Shanaka, a lot of players have withdrawn from PSL to take part in IPL over the last couple of years. Players who have switched from PSL 11 to IPL 2026
1. Blessing Muzarabani
The Zimbabwe pacer was supposed to play for Islamabad United after being bought for Rs 36.44 lakh in the first-ever auction. However, weeks before the start of the tournament, he withdrew from the league. Muzarabani will now play for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) instead in IPL 2026 and has been named as Mustafizur Rahman’s replacement. The PCB has threatened legal action against him for doing so.
2. Dasun Shanaka
The Sri Lankan all-rounder was signed by Lahore Qalandars for Rs 75 lakh to take part in PSL. However, he withdrew from the tournament. Shanaka has instead been named Sam Curran’s replacement in Rajasthan Royals (RR) for IPL 2026. He was initially unsold in the mini-auction held in December 2025 but has been signed as an injury replacement, marking the departure of yet another player from PSL in favour of the IPL.
3. Gudakesh Motie
The West Indies spinner pulled out of PSL 11 after being stranded in India following the T20 World Cup 2026 owning to the ongoing war in West Asia. was the only member of the West Indies contingent stuck in India who’d landed himself a gig in the PSL after he was picked up by Lahore Qalandars for PKR 1.10 crore in the first-ever PSL auction. Reports stated that he is likely to join LSG for IPL 2026, although it remains unconfirmed.
4. Spencer Johnson
Spencer Johnson is the latest player to indicate that he will pull out of PSL 11 and instead take part in IPL 2026. The Australian star was signed for Rs 5.6 crore by the Quetta Gladiators in the first-ever PSL auction. However, a recent Instagram story from the Australian suggests that he is all set to join CSK in IPL 2026, although there has been no confirmation from either the franchise or the player.
