India's biggest cricket stadium will be built in Andhra Pradesh's Amaravati after the ICC has given a go-ahead

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved the construction of India’s largest cricket stadium in Andhra Pradesh’s Amaravati. With a seating capacity of 1.32 lakhs, the stadium is set to surpass the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad as the biggest venue in the country. Earlier in January, the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) had revealed its plans to construct the stadium with a budget of approximately Rs 800 crore.

As per MyKhel, the stadium will be the centre piece of the 200 acre sports city. The venue is expected to be ready in time to host the 2029 National Games. Some of the salient features include pitches that can host all formats of the game, advanced floodlights, a sustainable design which includes using eco-friendly practices to reduce energy consumption.

Earlier, reports claimed that the ACA has already requested 60 acres of land from the state government for this project. To fund the construction, assistance will be sought from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), along with locally raised funds.
