The Mumbai Indians (MI) will play their first home match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season on March 31. The five-time champions will play two away games before returning to the Wankhede Stadium. For the uninformed, IPL 2025 will kick off on March 22 at the Eden Gardens, with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders taking on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Mumbai Indians first IPL 2025 home game
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not announced the full IPL 2025 schedule yet, but the venues for the tournament opener and the playoffs have been revealed. Now, we also know when Hardik Pandya and co. will return to Wankhede.
“MI will play their first two matches away before playing their first home game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 31,” a source told the Times of India.
It’ll be fascinating to see how the Wankhede crowd reacts to Hardik, who was booed last season after taking over the captaincy from homeboy Rohit Sharma. How will the Mumbai Indians cope if Jasprit Bumrah isn’t available to play? That will also be a thing to watch out for.

RR and DC to play two home matches at neutral venues
As far as home matches are concerned, two other teams, Rajasthan Royals and the Delhi Capitals, won’t play all of their home games (7) at home. Rajasthan’s base is Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, but they’ll play two matches at a neutral venue, the Barsapara Cricket (ACA) Stadium in Assam. Meanwhile, the Capitals will play two games at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Vizag and the remaining five at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
