KL Rahul lost the toss in the IND vs SA 1st ODI and South Africa have decided to bowl first in the contest in Ranchi. The hosts have gone ahead with three spinners and pacers each. India cricket team are without the services of regular skipper Shubman Gill and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer for the series against South Africa. After a whitewash in the Test series, the hosts will be looking to bounce back in the 50-over format contest. Meanwhile, Aiden Markram will be captaining SA while Temba Bavuma misses out.

Jaiswal, who played his first and only ODI back in January against England, has found his way back into the side and will open with Rohit. Gaikwad has been slotted in at number 4, acting as a like-for-like replacement for an injured Gill. Rahul, as he stated in the pre-match press conference has been slotted to bat at number 6, below Sundar.

However, despite the assurance from captain Rahul, Pant fails to make it to the line-up and instead will warm the bench. India have gone ahead with three spinners in the form of Jadeja, Kuldeep and Sundar, while the three pacers in the XI would be Rana, Arshdeep and Krishna.
