On Tuesday, in the West Indies vs England 1st T20I, all-rounder Andre Russell displayed that very unique style and the X-factor.
In the hosts’ four-wicket win over England, Russell scored 29 from 14 balls, taking his side to a comfortable win. And in the first innings, he had restricted the opponents to 171, bagging 3/19 with the ball. Making a comeback to the international circuit after a gap of two years, Russell also won the Player of the Match Award.
This comes as a big surprise to one and all, since it’s always difficult to make a comeback in the international arena. But if Russell is to be believed, the script went exactly according to the plan. After the match he told, that he had dreamt about the POTM award.
“Life is so funny Bish (Ian Bishop). When I got selected for the West Indies team, I kept dreaming for two weeks, since I got the call-up. I was dreaming that I would be the Man of the Match in the first game. I didn’t know how it would happen, but I kept believing. And it has happened tonight.”
