League leaders Gujarat Titans produced a shocker on Sunday, when Rashid Khan walked out for the toss alongside Chennai Super Kings’ captain Ravindra Jadeja. The Afghan spinner revealed that GT’s usual leader, Hardik Pandya will not be featuring in this game owing to groin stiffness.

“Bit of stiffness in the groin area for Hardik, so as a team we didn’t want to take a chance. He will rest and hopefully be back for the next game,” Rashid said after the toss.
He also opened up on the feeling of leading an IPL side by stating “Super excited (to be the captain). It’s kind of a dream. So I just want to learn as much as I can and give 100 percent.”
Pandya’s absence will be a major loss to Gujarat Titans as he was in scintillating form this season. In only the last game against Rajasthan Royals, he scored 87 runs and picked up a crucial wicket, thereby proving his versatility once again.
