Ishan Kishan to ignore BCCI’s Ranji diktat again, to play DY Patil
After being out of the cricket action for more than two months, wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan is set to return to the field with the DY Patil Tournament.

A day after Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s ultimatum to centrally contracted players to play the Ranji Trophy, wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan is reportedly set to return to cricket.

However, the 25-year-old has decided to skip the Ranji Trophy last round, starting on February 16 and instead has opted to mark his return with the DY Patil tournament.

According to Dainik Bhaskar, Kishan, who has been out of the cricketing action since December, decided not to participate in the Ranji Trophy due to a lack of preparation.

Ishan Kishan had left the India camp midway during the India Tour of South Africa series after complaining of mental fatigue with constant travelling.

Since then, the BCCI and Indian team management were clueless on Kishan’s availability. Despite head coach Rahul Dravid’s clear statement that Kishan would be considered for selection only if he resumes playing competitive, Kishan skipped Jharkhand’s Ranji Trophy matches.

However, the 25-year-old is now set for return. Dainik Bhaskar has further reported that Kishan took a break from cricket to spend time with his family as he had been with the team for a long time.

At present, Ishan Kishan is practicing with the Pandya brothers in Vadodara. Recently, a video of his practice was posted on social media.
