Will Team India boycott the Pakistan match in the Asia Cup? If they don’t, and the game continues as planned, and someone tries something funny during the match, they will be fined and possibly face jail time. Shubman Gill was struck during practice, while India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate talked about Sanju Samson’s spot. Ryan also responded to Pakistan’s head coach’s comment on having the best spinner in the world. Lastly, we have an injury update regarding Rishabh Pant.

India to boycott Pakistan?
Ryan ten Doeschate has confirmed that they won’t boycott Pakistan at the Asia Cup to make a statement. He was asked the question amid calls to withdraw from the game. Ryan added that Team India are doing whatever the BCCI and the Indian government have instructed them to do.

Where will Samson bat?
Ryan ten Doeschate also hinted that India won’t make any changes to their lineup for the Pakistan match. Against the UAE, the Men in Blue had dropped Arshdeep Singh and played Sanju Samson over Jitesh Sharma. Doeschate basically stated that Samson will continue to be India’s wicketkeeper and will bat in the middle order.

Gill injured?
Shubman Gill has been struck on his hand on the eve of the India vs Pakistan match. The vice-captain was hit during training and walked from the nets in pain. Suryakumar Yadav and Gautam Gambhir were seen having a word with the opener. But after being attended by the physio, Gill returned to the nets.

Pant going to CoE
Rishabh Pant will report to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) next week to commence his rehabilitation. It was only recently that the wicketkeeper batter returned to Mumbai to consult with specialist doctors. Pant should have been fit by now, but his decision to bat after sustaining the foot fracture may have hindered his recovery process.

Nawaz better than Kuldeep Yadav?
Ryan ten Doeschate also addressed comments made by the Pakistan head coach. Mike Hesson had stated that Mohammad Nawaz is the world’s best T20I spinner right now, implying he’s better than Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy. Ryan brushed it off, saying he doesn’t care about how they rate their players.
