Shreyas Iyer to join PBKS in Abu Dhabi

Shreyas Iyer will be part of the Punjab Kings contingent at the IPL 2026 auction on December 16. The PBKS captain is currently out with an injury and won’t be playing competitive cricket anytime soon. Ricky Ponting, PBKS head coach, won’t be in attendance due to commentary commitments in the 2025-26 Ashes.

Samson behind Gill’s failure?

Aakash Chopra thinks Shubman Gill’s innings in Cuttack, which lasted just 2 balls, panned out the way it did due to Sanju Samson. The former Indian cricketer thinks Gill has the pressure to perform the way Samson did during his time away from T20I cricket. He’s trying to stamp his authority, therefore moving away from his style of play.

IPL’s brand value takes a hit

Prior to the 2026 season, IPL’s brand value has been wiped out by INR 21,576 crore, from INR 1,078,67 crore in 2024 to INR 86,291 crore in 2025. The fall has been primarily attributed to India-Pakistan tensions. RCB and CSK’s brand value has also fallen by 10% and 24%, respectively. Read more here.

Rohit-Kohli dominate ICC rankings

The latest ICC ODI batting rankings are out, and Virat Kohli has closed on Rohit Sharma for the number one ranking. Kohli had moved to number four after his hundred in Ranchi and has finished at two after the South Africa series ended. He’s shortened the gap, but Rohit remains at the top.

Gill was confirmed as India captain in 2023?

Salil Ankola, who was the national selector from January 2023 to August 2024, has revealed that BCCI had earmarked Shubman Gill as India’s next captain in 2023 itself. The selectors had faith in Gill, and, according to Ankola, the team management, including senior players, felt he was the right man for the job.

Harry Brook joins Sunrisers

Sunrisers Leeds, formerly known as Northern Superchargers, has decided to hand Harry Brook a contract worth £470,000 (INR 5.26 crore). Brook has been leading the franchise for the last 2 years and is their highest scorer. The Hundred is moving from a draft to an auction, but ‘direct signings’ are allowed. The Sunrisers have decided to use that right for Brook.
