Anthony Ginting was the third seed and was expected to the the favourite in the contest. But Prannoy showed his prowess throughout the game to challenge the higher-ranked opponent and defeated him 21-19, 19-21, 21-18 to make his second appearance in the final in this tournament. In the second game, both the players were involved in an intense battle. When the scores were level at 8-8, Prannoy squandered a shot in the net to help his opponent take the lead. Ginting capitalised on that error and entered the break leading 11-8. From then on, neck-to-neck battle began. Trailing 19-20, Prannoy smashed outside the line to move the game into the deciding set.

In the third set, Prannoy came back to maintain the lead as he moved into the break with a 11-8 lead. He then raced to a 14-8 lead before allowing the Indonesian to make a comeback. However he hit a smash to get to four match points and closed the game with another precise smash. Prannoy will now face the winner of the contest between Kidambi Srikanth and Jonatan Christie in the final.
