The AIU has provisionally suspended discus thrower Kamalpreet Kaur of India for the Presence/Use of a Prohibited Substance (Stanozolol), a breach of the@WorldAthletics Anti-Doping Rules.

Kamalpreet Kaur is now provisionally suspended from participating in any Athletics event. This means she won’t be able to compete at the World Athletics Championships (July 15-24), Commonwealth Games (July 28-August 28) and Asian Games (September 10-15).

She will now have to go through a hearing if opted by the athlete. If she is proven guilty, she will have to face a four-year ban.
Kamalpreet was the first Indian woman to breach the 65 m barrier in Discuss Throw and holds the national record. At Tokyo Olympics she registered a best throw of 63.70 m in the final to finish at the sixth spot.
This year, she competed in the Indian Grand Prix and won the gold medal with a throw of 61.39 m. She however skipped the other events after suffering a knee injury.
