Boxing: Canelo Alvarez vs David Benavidez next?
It’s unsurprising that Canelo Alvarez has been on Benavidez’s wish list given his 26-0 record, two stints as the WBC champion, and freshly certified position as the organization’s obligatory challenger to the full-fledged claimant.
In a recent interview with Everything Boxing, he was blunt and said that Alvarez, the WBC champion since 2020, needed to sign for a fight with him or forfeit the title if he didn’t want to.
For the story of the tape, Benavidez stands 6’2″, while Alvarez is 5’8″ and has a reach of 74.5 inches as opposed to Alvarez’s 70.5 inches. From 160 to 168 pounds, Alvarez is 7-0 with four knockouts, including a victory over Plant in the eleventh round in November 2021.
