BCCI vs PCB: Asia Cup 2023 LIVE – India vs Pakistan Cricket: The Asia Cup 2023 has been a topic of heated discussion between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for quite some time. The two sides have been at loggerheads regarding the hosting of the tournament. The main problem that has arisen is the venue of the competition. Pakistan is the host and given the conflict between the two nations, the BCCI had previously made it very clear that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan.

After the BCCI’s statement, the PCB retaliated by saying that Pakistan would not take part in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup, scheduled to take place in India. The erstwhile PCB chairman Ramiz Raza made it clear that Pakistan will boycott the World Cup if India doesn’t travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup tournament.

Given that both sides are not willing to bend from their notions, it has come to the ACC to resolve the matter. The new PCB chairman Najam Sethi too bears the same opinion as the two nations continue to remain at dagger ends with one another. Earlier, it was reported that a neutral venue would be selected to satisfy both parties.

As per the latest developments, the meeting could find a solution regarding the venue and a final decision could be taken on the matter. This year, the Asia Cup will revert back to its original format, i.e ODI game. Last year, the Asia Cup was held in UAE despite SriLanka being the hosts. The political unrest in SriLanka forced the game to take place in UAE where it was held in T20 format.

But now things have taken a sharp turn with Pakistan having the hosting rights. The two sides shared jibes at each other when Sethi took to social media to make a sarcastic remark on BCCI secreatry Jay Shah. He wrote, “Thank you @JayShah for unilaterally presenting @ACCMedia1 structure & calendars 2023-24 especially relating to Asia Cup 2023 for which Pakistan is the event host. While you are at it, you might as well present structure & calendar of our PSL 2023! A swift response will be appreciated (sic).”

The Asian Cricket Council shiftly replied taking Jay Shah’s side. They said, “It has come to our knowledge that PCB Chairman Mr Najam Sethi has made a comment on the ACC President unilaterally taking the decision on finalising the calendar and announcing the same. The ACC wants to clarify that it has followed well established and due process. The calendar was approved by its Development Committee and Finance & Marketing Committee in a meeting held on December 13th, 2022.

“The calendar was then communicated to all the participating members individually, including Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), via an email dated December 22nd, 2022. While responses were received from certain Member Boards, no comments or suggested modifications were received from PCB. In view of the above, Mr Sethi’s comments on a social media platform are baseless and are vehemently denied by the ACC.”
