Odisha Masters: Nozomi Okuhara faces hotel issue, PV Sindhu comes to rescue

Apart from the poor arrangements for Odisha Open, a Malaysian player had complained about dirty water during Guwahati Masters.

India is witnessing a host of badminton tournaments that are part of the BWF World Tour event. After the Syed Modi International and Guwahati Masters, the caravan moved to Odisha, for the Odisha Masters 300. But as was the case with the prior two tournaments, the organization has been poor, and the players have had to suffer.

This time it was the turn of the former world no. 1 Japanese player Nozomi Okuhara, who recently won the Guwahati Masters. Upon reaching the host city, she found it extremely tough to find accommodation for herself. The situation was so bad, she had to post every update on Instagram. She started out by saying that the hotel where she was booked, did not have a booking in her name.

The story read, “We don’t have booking. And today is full.” Her next update said that she booked a hotel herself, but her reservation was not confirmed. The inconvenience to the global star did not end there, as she contemplated camping as well. But eventually, she did get some help from the tournament staff. In her story, she also mentioned, she got help from ‘Sindh’, who could be none other than PV Sindhu.

Last week, Soong Joo Ven, who was in India to play the Guwahati Masters 2023, put out a tweet showing dirty, black water in his bathroom.

Meanwhile, the Odisha Masters will be held from 12-17 December. India’s Priyanshu Rajawat is the top seed in the tournament. Okuhara is the fourth seed in the women’s singles.
