Korea Masters Badminton: Tanya Hemanth crashes out from first round

Tanya Hemanth was the only Indian to feature in the Korean Masters Badminton Super 300 tournament this year.

India’s Tanya Hemanth crashed out from the first round at the Korea Masters 2023. The World No.59 Indian lost to South Korea’s Ga Ram Kim 15-21, 10-21. With the defeat, India’s challenge in the tournament has come to an end.

The game started off on an even note as both the players were level 8-8 at one stage. However the Korean won the next three points and entered the interval with a lead. Ga Ram Kim continued to maintain the lead and won the first game comfortably.

In the second game, Ga Ram Kim went on to dominate right from the start. She entered the interval with the score at 11-5 and allowed Tanya to add only five more points as she sealed the game in 32 minutes.

Tanya Hemanth last played in the BWF Tour at the Vietnam Open in September. She bowed out from the second round in that tournament. She was the only player competing in this year’s Korea Masters Super 300 event.

Top shuttlers like Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty opted to skip the tournament. PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy meanwhile are recovering from injuries.
