Injury again? PV Sindhu retires from French Open clash against Supanida Katethong

PV Sindhu seems to have suffered an untimely injury, while playing her Round of 16 French Open clash.

In what could be disastrous for India, star shuttler PV Sindhu retired from her Round of 16 clash against Thailand’s Supanida Katethong midway, in the second game due to an injury. Sindhu had won the first game 21-18. While the nature of her injury, and the extent is not known, various media reports suggested that the Indian pulled out not to aggravate a niggle.

Interestingly, after her first-round match against Indonesia’s GM Tumjung, Sindhu had tweeted, “One of those days when you run the damn engine on fumes because there was definitely no fuel left in the tank towards the end!! A win is a win, and I’ll take it! Had to draw every last bit of energy.”

If reports are to be believed, PV Sindhu has suffered a left knee injury.

Sindhu Back in Top 10

After successive semifinal appearances at the BWF Tour, Sindhu returned to the Top 10 in the BWF rankings. The double Olympic medallist jumped two places to reach WR-10 in the rankings that were updated on Tuesday. She achieved the feat after a gap of six months.
