During the changeovers, the Spidey Camera could be seen changing positions, just as players do between overs. Anrich Nortje was seen moving from the midwicket area to the fine leg position. Spidey Camera was also seen moving from the long on position to the fine leg at the same time and in the same direction. That’s when the Spidey Camera slammed into Nortje, knocking him out for a few seconds. The incident drew the attention of fans inside the stadium and around the world.

Nortje was down for a few seconds, unaware of the speed with which the Spiday Camera was approaching him, before getting up and moving towards the fine leg position. Uncertain who made the technical error, but a serious injury would have exacerbated South Africa’s situation in the Melbourne Test. For a few minutes, the commentators were seen debating the issue.

It is acceptable to use technology in sports, but it is also critical to keep it safe for the players in the middle.
