- Medvedev is the sixth seed in the tournament. He began the tournament with a three-set win against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
- In the second round, he sailed past Botic van de Zandschulp with a 6-2, 6-2 win.
- The Russian then reached the semifinal after defeating defending champion Felix Auger Aliassime in straight sets.
- Daniil Medvedev earlier started the year by bowing out of the Adelaide International in semifinals.
- He then bowed out of the Australian Open in the third round after losing against Sebastian Korda.
- Jannik Sinner is aiming to win his second successive title in the ATP Tour this year. He entered the tournament after winning the Open Su de France title.
- In the first round at ATP Rotterdam, he had to drop a set but clinched a three-set win against Benjamin Bonzi.
- He then clinched a straight set win against World No.3 Stefanos Tsitsipas. He continued his dominance as he trounced Stan Wawrinka 6-1, 6-3 to enter the semifinal.
