‘Challenge accepted’ says Bajrang Punia, will fight Vishal Kaliraman after Asian Games

In a video posted on social media, Bajrang Punia said he will fight Vishal Kaliraman after the Asian Games.

There seems to be no end to the Asian Games wrestling squad fiasco, where top wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat were picked in the squad without undergoing trials. While the latter pulled out of the Games at the last moment, the verbal battle between Bajrang and Vishal Kaliraman, his competitor in the 65 kg category, is only intensifying.

While it all started with Vishal urging Bajrang to appear for a trial, now the situation looks a little out of hand, with even Khap panchayats getting involved. But unfortunately, the Khaps have also distanced themselves from this issue. Last Saturday, in one such Khap meeting in the Jind district of Haryana, it was decided that the Khaps would stay away from the decision to send Bajrang Punia to the Asian Games.

As per various reports, the matter did not end there as the Vishal Kaliraman faction, including his brother Krishan Kaliraman, started protesting against Bajrang Punia. A scuffle also broke out between the two factions. Allegedly, there were slogans raised which were not in good taste.

Now, the Tokyo Olympics medalist has taken to social media and expressed his anger on whatever has transpired recently. In the video, Bajrang reprimanded Kaliraman for whatever was said during the meeting. He also went on to say that he accepted the challenge and will wrestle Kaliraman after the Asian Games.
