Quarterfinals:
Gyanender vs Mehdi Mohsen Nejad – 60 kgs
India’s Gyanender, who has already won an Asian Championship bronze medal in 2019 takes on Iran’s Mehdi Mohsen Nejad in the quarterfinals of the 60 kg Greco-Roman Wrestling. He is expected to be a strong contender for a medal in the event.
Sachin Sehrawat vs Meirzhan Shermakhanbet – 67 kgs
Sachin Sehrawat takes on Kazakhstan’s Meirzhan Shermakhanbet in the 67 kgs category. The Kazakhstani is an experienced wrestler, who has won the Asian Championship Silver in 2019 and also the World Championship Bronze. The Indian is expected to face a tough fight.

Day 1 Results:
The four wrestlers are expected to add more medals to India’s tally as the nation has already secured three bronze medals on Day 1 of the tournament.
On the opening day, India’s Greco-Roman Wrestlers Sunil Kumar (87 kgs), Arjun Halakurki (55 kg) and Neeraj (63 kg) won bronze medals in their respective weight divisions. While Sunil Kumar entered the semi-finals and lost to former world championship bronze medalist Jalgasbay Berdimuratov, the other two wrestlers entered the bronze medal contest via repechage rule.
