Indian badminton men’s doubles pair Satwik-Chirag has been honoured with the Khel Ratna Award by President Draupadi Murmu at the ongoing National Sports Awards. The pair had a stunning 2023 reaching a career-high of the 1st rank in BWF rankings.
A notable achievement for them this season was securing the gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games 2023. In the men’s doubles event, they etched their names in history as the first Indians to claim a gold medal in badminton at the Asian Games. Their opponents, Choi Sol-gyu and Kim Won-ho of South Korea, were defeated in straight games with a scoreline of 21-18, 21-16.
