Sri Lanka senior batter Kusal Mendis garnered a lot of appreciation due to his heart-warming gesture ahead of the AFG vs SL World Cup match. As the players lined up for their respective national anthems, a kid standing in front of the stand-in captain, Kusal Mendis fainted. Kusal Mendis immediately picked the kid up as he was taken out of the field for a check-up.

“I was looking to bat first, put up a good score on the board and defend. In the last three matches, we have done well in all three parts, batting, bowling and fielding and we would like to do well again. Chameera is playing and hopefully, he will do well. Perera is not playing and Karunaratne comes in his place. He played well in the qualifier matches and I have confidence in him,” said Sri Lanka skipper Kusal Mendis after toss.
