The qualifying for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2023 features 44 nations. They are then split up into six groups of four teams each and four groups of five teams. The six best runner-up teams and the group winners from each group will advance to the main tournament.

Round-robin play will take place, with each team facing the other once. The team that finished second must wait to see if it is one of the six best runner-up teams to go to the final rounds. The team that finished first in the group will immediately qualify for the main event.

Along with the Saudi Arabian hosts, Myanmar, the Maldives, and Kuwait, India is in Group D. One of the four groups with five teams in Group D. Each of the other six groups consists of four teams. The youngsters will hope to become one of the 16 teams that move on to the main part of the continental showpiece. The 2002 competition, when it was still known as the AFC U-16 Championship, saw India turn up its greatest showing in the competition’s history. They advanced to the quarterfinals that year, where South Korea defeated them 3-1 and went on to win the match.

India has had eight successful qualifying attempts for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup (formerly known as the AFC U-16 Championship), with their best results coming in 2002 and 2018, when they advanced to the quarterfinals. This gives them the second-best record among the Group D teams. Saudi Arabia, the tournament’s hosts, who have participated in the main competition ten times and thrice won it, will be a formidable opponent (1985 and 1988).

Due to FIFA’s ban resulting from third-party meddling in its regulatory body for football, India was temporarily prohibited from competing in the event. However, the embargo was swiftly lifted, allowing the Indian U-17 national team to compete.

India will be looking forward to maintaining its pace from the commanding SAFF U17 final victory with an impressive tournament. India won the SAFF U-17 Championship on September 14, 2022, at the Racecourse International Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka, defeating a 10-man Nepal team 4-0 to cap off a clinical performance.

India wins back the championship, which was formerly known as the SAFF U-15 Championship, with this victory. Aman, Boby Singh, Korou Singh, skipper Vanlalpeka Guite, and Korou Singh all scored once to help India to a convincing victory.
