Both Priyansh Arya and Suyash Sharma played the IPL 2025 final against each other as well.

The Delhi Premier League (DPL), in it’s inaugural season, gave us Priyansh Arya. The hard-hitting talent from Delhi quickly became a sensation, hammering 608 runs at an immaculate average and strike rate of 67.56 and 198.69. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) fast-tracked him, and he went on to play all the games, including the IPL 2025 final.

While Arya failed to lift the maiden trophy for PBKS, Suyash Sharma, another Delhi-born talent who was part of the DPL, succeeded. Plying trade for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Suyash delivered a decent IPL season.

Not ideal starts for Priyansh Arya, Suyash Sharma

Coming into the second season of the Delhi Premier League, both Arya and Suyash were expected to hit the ground running. After all, unlike last season, both are marquee stars this time around and are part of the brand-new franchise, Outer Delhi Warriors. Unfortunately, both failed as Outer Delhi endured a tough 40-wicket loss in their opening game against the New Delhi Tigers.

Outer Delhi spent almost 25% of their auction purse (Rs 1.50 cr) on the duo of Arya and Suyash, two of the biggest talents in the Delhi circuit. However, the start wasn’t superb, as Suyash went wicketless in the first innings. Bowling first, Suyash leaked 33 runs in his four overs, with Himmat Singh taking him to the cleaners. The New Delhi Tigers captain hit Suyash for 23 runs in 11 balls as he and Shivam Gupta stitched the highest partnership of the tournament so far (164 off 87).

Shivam Gupta, after his impactful 89, shared that it was a conscious effort by the team not to give a wicket to Suyash Sharma despite the Arun Jaitley Stadium surface stopping a bit. Meanwhile, Arya started well. He opened with Sanat Sangwan and the dup hammered 65 runs within the first 5 overs. However, it was Sanat who started with blazing sixes. Arya, meanwhile, looked threatening but failed to capitalise.

The Punjab Kings opener made 26 off 15 balls before getting caught off Parth Bali’s bowling. In a steep run-chase of 223 runs, Outer Delhi needed Arya to fire in all cylinders but he failed to do so. His maiden innings after the IPL 2025 was expected to be a blazing one but Arya has enough time on his side.
