Sumit Nagal vs Vasek Pospisil
25-year old Sumit Nagal will look to repeat his heroics at the US Open in 202o when he reached the main draw of the Grand Slam event for the first time. He faced Roger Federer in the second round and lost the contest in straight sets back then. Nagal missed the first four month of the year due to an injury and made a comeback in April this year. He lost the first round in French Open qualifier. Just before the US Open qualifier, he made it to the quarterfinal at Meerbusch Challenger where he faced a three set defeat against Zapatta Miralles. He faces a tough challenge against Canada’s Vasek Pospisil in the qualifying opener.
Vasek Pospisil is the 26th seed and is ranked 132 in the world. His best performance at the US Open is reaching the fourth round in 2020. The Canadian enters the contest after reaching the semifinal at Vancouver Open last week. He will be the favourite in the upcoming contest but one can expect a good challenge from the Indian.

Ramkumar Ramanthan lost to Bruno Kuzuhara 3-6, 5-7
Ramkumar Ramanthan will face wildcard entrant Bruno Kuzuhara in the first round of the qualifiers. Ramkumar who is ranked 241 in the world is the only Indian out of the trio who is yet to enter the main draw of any Grand Slam tournament in his career. His beste performance in the qualifiers of the US Open is a second round appearance in 2015 and 2017. He came close to reaching the main draw of the Wimbledon this year but stumbled in the third round of the qualifiers. Ahead of the US Open qualifiers, he reached the main draw at the Atlanta Open last month and bowed out of the first round.
Meanwhile, Kuzuhara is an 18-year old who won the Australian Open Junior title earlier this year. He also reached the third round at the French Open juniors, The teenager is ranked 763 in the world and will be making his career’s first-ever appearance in the qualifying round of a grand slam event. Both the players will be facing each other for the first time in their career.
Yuki Bhambri beat Radu Albot 7-6 (7-4), 6-4
Yuki Bhambri faces a tough challenge in the opening round of the qualifiers as he faces Radu Albot in the first round. Albot is the ninth seed in the qualifiers. Bhambri has recently focused on the doubles in the Challenger trophies where he is partnering with compatriot Saketh Myneni. He last played singles in June this year at the Malaga Challenger. In the Grand Slam qualifiying rounds this year, he faced second round defeat at the Australian Open and bowed out from the first round at French Open and US Open.
Meanwhile, Albot is He enters the US Open after reaching the semifinal at Chicago Challenger. At the Grand Slam tournaments his best performance this year is a third round appearance at the Australian Open. He also reached the main draw at Wimbledon but bowed out from the first round. He didn’t go past the qualifers at the French Open.
