Meanwhile, leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay and off-spinner Ashian Daniel are reportedly in the fray to be included against India in upcoming matches. The duo are likely to replace injured Nuwan Thusara and Ramesh Mendis who suffered injuries.

While Vandersay was part of Sri Lanka’s T20I squad against Australia, Daniel took 10 wickets in just 3 games including fifer and four-fer in NSL.

  • Ramesh Mendis has fractured his right thumb whilst batting during training. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation work.
  • Nuwan Thushara suffered a left side strain while bowling during the 3rd T20I played against Australia. Thushara commenced rehabilitation work and misses the remainder of the series.

As per themorning.lk, the likes of Lahiru Thirimanne, Oshada Fernando, Chamika Gunakesara, Praveen Jayawickrama, Lasith Embuldeniya & Anandian Gunasekara could also make cuts in the upcoming T20Is and Tests.

  • Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is likely to come with a squad announcement in the next 48 hours ahead of the India tour.
  • The tour was supposed to start with the two-match Test, but now will begin with T20Is, with the first match being played at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on February 24.
  • The second and third T20Is will take place in Dharamsala on February 26 and 27.
  • Following the T20I series, the teams will play two Tests, which form a part of the 2021-23 ICC World Test Championship cycle.
  • Mohali will host the first Test from March 4 to 8, while the second Test will be played in Bengaluru from March 12 to 16.
