Chasing a target of 208, SRH got off to a wobbling start as they lost three wickets for just 37 runs on the board. Nicholas Pooran soon joined hands with Aiden Markram and the duo kept SRH’s hopes alive by playing responsible knocks.

Pooran faced trouble initially as he was given out lbw by the onfield umpires in the third ball he faced. However Pooran took the DRS and he was saved with the ball projection missing the leg stump.

He started off slowly with Markram taking on the role of the aggressor. The duo shared 60-run stand in which Pooran just scored 15 off 16 deliveries. Only after Markram’s wicket Pooran decided to accelerate as immediately in the very next over, he belted two sixes off Anrich Nortje.

With the required run rate beginning to climb, he hit sixes every over to still keep SRH’s hopes alive. He got to his fifty off 29 deliveries in the 17th over. He added 12 more runs after scoring fifty and with still 43 needed of 15 balls, he perished trying to go for a big shot by giving a catch to long on fielder. He walked back to the pavilion after scoring 62 off 34 balls in the 18th over. In the end, SRH lost the game by 21 runs and slumped to their third consecutive defeat.

Pooran has now scored 242 runs in 10 matches at an average of 60,5 and a Strike Rate of 148.46
