1: Mithali Raj

India women’s team captain Mithali Raj has been playing cricket for more than 20 years. She is at the twilight of her career and still going strong. The 39-year-old made her debut as a 16-year-old in 1999 against Ireland and made it memorable by scoring a 100. Since then, she has shattered all records and is the leading run-scorer in women’s game in ODIs. Mithali is an inspiration for all the young cricketers not only in India but across the globe as well.

2: PV Sindhu

PV Sindhu has become the face of badminton within no time. She started as someone with immense talent in 2009 but quickly made an impression on the big stage with her performance in London Olympics. She went a step ahead in the 2016 Olympics and managed to win a silver medal. Consistency is her forte and a never-say-die-attitude.

3: Lovlina Borgohain

Lovlina Borgohain made India proud by bagging a bronze medal in Tokyo 2020 Olympics. At the young age of 24, the boxer inspired many aspiring young players to follow the passion. The boxer also shared her Olympics journey to the world and gave a simple message – Controlling mental state is a must.

4: MC Mary Kom

MC Mary Kom is arguably the best boxer India has produced till now. Her doggedness, determination, and grit have inspired many boxers to take up the game. She is a five-time boxing world champion and became the first woman from India to win a bronze medal in London Olympics.

5: Saina Nehwal

Saina Nehwal dominated badminton for close to six years. She was also nicknamed the golden girl of the sport due to her exploits. She began her career in 2012 and has won the Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold, Thai Open Grand Prix Gold, and the Indonesian Open Super Series.

6: Mirabai Chanu

Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu made India proud by bagging a silver medal in Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She defied all odds and showed the world what resilience means. She has also shown consistency as she went on to win gold in Singapore and qualified for CWG.

7: Sania Mirza

Sania Mirza is the reason why Tennis as a sport is played by women since 2003. She burst onto the scene as a spunky and determined young player in the early 2000s. Gradually, Mirza developed her game and became the numero uno for India for close to eight years.

8: Deepika Kumari

Deepika Kumari is India’s leading archery player. People were disappointed that she could bag a medal in Tokyo Olympics. Such is the reputation she has made in the sport. Kumari has won gold in commonwealth games in individual and team sport in 2010. She has consistently been in the top 10 of world rankings also.

9: Geeta Phogat

Geeta Phogat brought wrestling to the limelight in India by winning the country’s first gold medal in Commonwealth Games in 2010. She also became the first Indian woman to qualify for Olympic Summer Games. She has since then become unstoppable and is winning laurels for the country by being resolute.

Dipika Pallikal has revolutionized squash in India. She created history by being the first player from the country to break into the top 20. She has won WISPA tour titles in the year 2011. She also made India proud by breaking into the top 10 rankings in 2012.
