Will Rishabh Pant be fit in time for West Indies series?

Rishabh Pant had suffered a freak injury on the bowling of Chris Woakes, during the fourth Test in England.

There is a lot of speculation about Rishabh Pant‘s participation in the West Indies Test series starting in October, followed by an ODI series in Australia. Some reports suggest that he might be available for the 2nd Test, while others report that he might just take some more time to recover.

Rishabh Pant in or out?

As per a fresh one in Jagran.com, Rishabh Pant could take 3-4 weeks to recover fully. That means he will miss both the West Indies and Australia series. In fact, he might only play in the South Africa Tests, which begin in November. For now, he is back in India and has started his rehab in Bengaluru.

He is walking with the help of a walking boot for now and could get rid of it soon. Gradually, he would be allowed to put some weight on the affected foot. The team management also would not like to take any chance with Pant’s fitness, who had missed the last Test in England after getting injured in the 4th match.

Dhruv Jurel main keeper, Jagadeesan as reserve

In his absence, the selectors might want to rope in N Jagadeesan as the second keeper, who has been in sensational form in domestic cricket. He was part of the squad in England for the last Test. The main keeper without any doubt would be Dhruv Jurel, who too has been with the team for quite some time now. Meanwhile, more clarity could come on Rishabh Pant, in the next few days. But in all probability, he is out of the Windies series.
