Deepti Sharma starred with both bat and ball in the Indian women’s cricket record 347-run win over England. The all-rounder scored 87 runs and claimed 9 wickets in the IND vs ENG Women’s Test and was rightfully adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’. After her match-winning performance, Deepti stated that she had been waiting for this day for a long time.
Despite making her international debut in 2014, the all-rounder has played just 3 Test matches. With the one-off IND vs ENG Test being her first in India.
“Feeling very good; I was waiting for this day. Feeling very proud as we executed our plans. Happy with the results. I tried to keep calm. We focused on building partnerships and were pleased we could execute them. I was getting a lot of help from the wicket, so I tried to bowl in the right areas. Harmanpreet was advising me to bowl in the right areas. I will try to keep doing the same things going forward,” Deepti Sharma said in the post-match interview.
