Ace Sri Lankan all-rounder has faced another setback. Wanindu Hasaranga, who was in superb form, has hit a roadblock as he will miss the forthcoming T20I series against Bangladesh, starting July 10. Just recently, Sri Lanka concluded a successful three-match ODI series against the Asian rivals, clinching it 2-1. While Kusal Mendis was the star of the show, Hasaranga ended up as the leading wicket-taker with 9 scalps at an outstanding bowling average of 11.67.
Hamstring injury issue continues
According to a Sri Lankan journalist, Wanindu Hasaranga copped another hamstring injury during the third ODI clash between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Although the result of an MRI scan is pending, it can be confirmed that you won’t see Hasaranga in action in the T20.
It is the same injury that has been a nemesis for the Sri Lankan spinner, who recently completed 100 ODI wickets to his name. Back in 2023, the leggie missed the entire ODI World Cup in India as he underwent a hamstring surgery.
Soon after he recovered, Hasaranga was left with discomfort in his left hamstring that also made his way out of the ODIs against India. Luckily, Sri Lanka pulled off a famous series win without him, beating India in an ODI series for the first time in 28 years.
